good morning, everybody. it is 4:30. happy to have you with us. i'm jon kelley. good morning. thanks for waking up with us. i'm marla tallez in for laura garcia-cannon. let's look at the forecast with meteorologist, christina loren. a gorgeous weekend out there. this is the point that we crank the heat up ñhat it turns from gorgeous to down-right hot. summertime weather is on all week long. look at what we are started out at, 61 degrees in san jose, 60 in livermore. mid to upper 50s along the peninsula. we are headed to the 90s today and the mid-90s arrive as we head deeper into the workweek. back to work on a good note with our own mike inouye. a nice clear easy shot of the san francisco bay bridge here with a smooth drive up the incline. light volume of traffic. we'll look at the approach coming down the eastshore freeway and the westbound commute direction has not yet kicked in.

the merge, the split with eastbound 80 and eastbound 580. we are looking towards that as folks are heading off the richmond brinl. richmond bridge. back to you. investigators this morning analyzing fingerprints and our dna evidence at the northern california home where an eight-year-old girl was sadly stabbed to death. this morning, her killer still on the loose. authorities going door to door in the cal abear ras county town of valley springs checking storage sheds, horse stables and attics, located 30 miles east of stockton. investigators following leads from all over the area. in spite of increased security, residents said this murder has shattered their sense of safety. >> a lot of parents that have to commute and go to work and they all latch key kids. so they come home and unlock the doors. i'm really concerned about our

neighborhood now. >> the calaberas sheriff's department will have extra security. a candle light vigil tomorrow night. a candlelight vigil will be held for brandy martell, the transgender woman killed last year while sitting in her car with three other friends. her former supervisor at the tri-valley health center in fremont says it appears it may have been a hate crime. the same place where she was killed at 13th and franklin there is a vigil planned law makers and mental health experts gather to try to talk about preventing another situation that happened in newtown, connecticut. they are looking at getting more mental health services in

schools and collaborating with more law enforcements. >> we are going to look at the relationships between schools and law enforcement. how can they communicate better? how much information can school personnel provide law enforcement without violating hippa or privacy rights? >> a standardized emergency plan for schools in san mateo county. that summit starts at 8:30 at the oracle conference center in redwood city. two sisters accused of felony child abuse at a livermore daycare are expected to enter pleas today. 35-year-old nazila sharf and lida sharaf swaddled children so tightly, their breathing was restricted and they were accused of covering babies up with blankets and turning up the heat to make the babies sleepy. the lawyer for the women says they did not intend to hurt the

babies. jury selection starts today in a serial murder case that's been decades in the making. joseph naso now stands accused of killing four northern california women from the 1970s to the 1990s. after a lengthy pre-trial hearing and several delays, his trial finally expected to get underway this week in marin county. naso, for the record, is acting at as his own attorney. former 49ers player, queen harris, a 49ers player is accused of assaulting his ex-boyfriend. he was a first round draft pick in 1993. he now faces up to nine years in prison. santa clara county says its ambulance service is not making good on its contract. the rural metro evidence company provides service for 911 calls in 14 cities in large, unincorporated areas of santa clara county. the company failed to meet

its response time requirement in two of the last six months. the company has also paid almost $5 million in fines for failing to meet rigid contract terms set by the county. rural metro says it takes the violations seriously and is addressing them. san jose business leaders now stepping up trying to get the new ballpark down in the south bay. the mercury news reporting the san jose downtown business association is currently discussing a possible suit against major league baseball and the san francisco giants. that suit would challenge the giants territorial rights claiming the blocked ballpark has caused economic hardship. a san jose a's stadium would generate an estimated $130 million a year in new spending within that city. 4:36. cal fire has announced a summer burn ban that will go into effect in several bay area counties today. this means it is illegal to start any outdoor fires over the next five months or so. firefighters say they have had to deal with several small fires

over the last few weeks. the ban will help prevent more of those. the dry conditions prompted cal fire to issue the ban a few weeks earlier than normal. >> the burn ban is in effect until we see some measurable amount of precip that comes back in. we get some recovery of the fuel moistures and the larger plant materials and stuff out in the wild land. here is a look at the affected counties, santa clara, alameda, contra costa, stanislaus, santa clara, santa cruz. they plan to add firefighters to deal with the try conditions you are like me, you love this warm weather. >> it is perfect outside. >> christina loren is back to tell us about how nice it is going to be all week long. >> we want to start with your current temperatures, mid-50s, pretty good-looking day shaping up. you probably will notice the difference. it is going to be hotter today than yesterday. yesterday, we hit that threshold

hot as they are, they could wrap that series up tomorrow night in denver. the warriors, a commanding 3-1 series lead. the kid doing it last night. steph curry, they call him the human torch. we watched this last night. he was doing it all, lights out. scored 22 of 31 points in that third quarter. everything he threw up went in. it was fun to watch. they went on to win it, 115-101. if they win tomorrow night in denver, they will take that series and head to san antonio for round two. we are warriors. the sharks released their playoff schedule late last night. game one in the best of seven with the canucks will be played wednesday night in vancouver. game two is friday night. the first game at hp pavilion here at home will be sunday night at 7:00. game four is tuesday, may 7th at 7:00. this is a long shot.

4:44 now. more women are getting plastic surgery on their arms according to the american society of plastic surgeons. the number of surgeries to get rid of excess skin on the upper arms has skyrocketed. more than 4,000%. many point to celebrities who have not had the surgery but are physically fit like madonna, beyonce, even michelle obama as a motivating factor. doctors are careful to point out the surgery does not increase muscle tone or replace exercise and it is not a weight loss procedure. the surgery costs about $4,000 it is 4:45 right now. we are learning new details about a hack that compromised millions of living social accounts. plus, some bay area tech companies getting ready to release earnings this week. let's go to kayla toushi.

futures are higher. investigators may now shift their focus away from earnings to the federal reserve and the economy. the fed meets tuesday and wednesday and is expected to hold the line on interest rates. data this week will be topped off by friday's key jobs report. though today we get reports on personal income and pending home sales. the dow rising to 17,712. the nasdaq slipping 10 to 3279. living social is e-mailing the 50 million customers whose accounts were hacked. they disclosed the incident on friday. names, e-mails, birth dates and passwords were accessed. no credit card information was stolen. customers in nearly every country were affected. before noon yesterday, it was pretty hot when i went for my run. >> it is going to get even hotter s. >> she is a warrior. >> she can go through it. >> i try hard you want to make those runs

high pressure gained some momentum today. this thing is already packing enough energy to bring our temperatures into the mid-80s. today, the return of the 90s. fairfield, concord, livermore, gilroy. meanwhile, we will hit the 70s in san francisco. 78 in santa cruz. not as hot as we head through tuesday. we are going to heat you up wednesday into friday. we are talking about a return of the mid-90s. places like gilroy could hit the triple digits. we'll keep you updated as we head throughout the morning. >> christina, thank you very much. new this morning, the search for survivors now over at the site of that terrifying factory building collapse in bangladesh. at least 380 people now confirmed dead. today, the prime minister of bangladesh touring that site in a nearby hospital where the wounded are being treated. the owner of the illegally constructed business now in custody. he was captured as he was trying to leave the country. the mother of the two boston bombing suspects says her sons

are innocent and she is not a terrorist, just someone who found deeper spirituality. she spoke in defense of her sons at a news conference. the fbi says russian officials intercepted phone calls in which the mother discusses jihad with her oldest son who died in a shootout with police. she was also reported speaking to someone in southern russia under fbi investigation. the man believed to be behind the ricin-laced letter sent to the president and other officials expected to make his 41-year-old james dusky, who ran for congress in 2007, was arrested early saturday morning. being charged with possession of biological agents with intent to use as a weapon. the arrest follows a charge dropped against another man, kevin curtis, who claims he was framed. curtis, the one who identified him as the culprit, a man he does have ties with in the past. one world trade center will

today, they are kicking off their annual pothole blitz. an effort to fill 3,000 potholes by june. it will start on claremont avenue between clifton and hudson street and they will move to another district to help with the ongoing problem. >> speaking of potholes, one bay area city has the dishonor of being home to the drint's worst shows. the road information project ranks san jose tops when it comes to drivers paying the most for car repairs caused by road damage. >> we are number one. drivers in the south bay pay an average of $756 per year because of bad roads. los angeles is second on the list followed by san francisco, oakland, and honolulu, fourth. this is one of those stories that makes you go, kind of, really, what?
